Beer Review: Three Philosophers

threephil

ABV: 9.8%
$: $7-$8 750ml

Three Philosophers is a belgian style quadruple ale, it is a blend of 98% belgian ale and 2% ale with cherries added. No worries this is not a cherry beer at all. It is belgian STYLE because it is brewed in Cooperstown NY.

Smell: Floral, carmel and slightly almond

Color: Fairly dark brownish red

Taste: Rather fruity and flowery at first then moves into more of woody aged taste and finish with a slight bitterness of hops.

Mouth: Kind of chewy but what do you expect with a quad. It is more carbonated than I like in a belgian but a good swirl in the glass takes care of that.

Nice belgian beer, I am not a big fan of quadruples but this one was better than I expected. I like how balanced it is which is hard to do with such a heavy beer. Over all it is a pretty tasty beer.
